May is my birthday month. After a certain decade has passed, you stop counting what year or age you are anymore. Usually I have grand plans, but of late, they always seem to fizzle out. In some years, I hope my family has connived to throw me a massive surprise party. What I end up with is a card and maybe dinner and some socks. In some years, I throw a fit and ask that I be left alone to have a weekend to myself, or to travel by myself to some random destination.
This year, I hope to do it differently. And not just one massive party, but a series of smaller outings. Below are things that are on my radar over the next few weeks. If you’re reading this, know me personally, and care to synchronize your schedule and interests with mine, maybe I’ll see you accordingly.
May 16th: Film Festival night 1
May 17th: Film Festival night 2
May 18th: Tech Walk, Plant Sale, and Hong Kong night market
May 23rd: Filmscape Launch Party
May 24th: Karaoke night in Chinatown and/or Fulton Market dance party (this is my actual birthday)
May 25th: Charity fundraiser
May 27th: AAPI Songwriter Night
May 28th: Comedy Newsletter Subscriber Meetup
May 31st: Logan Theater Dance Party
And these are just special events outside the normal weekly shows I track on a regular basis.
Additionally, I’m trying to program my own variety show / open mic / open studios / podcast recording / film fest around all of the above.
I may need an intervention here. LOL.
